Walking Pad Maintenance & Lubrication Guide

Walking Pad Maintenance & Lubrication Guide

Regular belt lubrication and basic cleaning every 2–3 months of normal use keeps a walking pad running quietly and prevents the belt-and-motor wear that isn't covered under manufacturing defect warranty. Here's the full process.

Step 1: Unplug the unit

Always disconnect power before any maintenance. Fold the handrail down and place the unit flat on a stable surface with good lighting.

Step 2: Clean the belt surface

Wipe the belt and the side rails with a dry or lightly damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid soaking the belt or letting water pool near the motor housing.

Step 3: Check belt tension and alignment

With the unit off, run your hand along the belt to check it sits centred between the side rails and doesn't drag to one side. A belt that's drifted noticeably to one edge may need a tension adjustment — check your unit's manual for the specific adjustment bolts.

Step 4: Lift the belt edge and apply lubricant

Gently lift one edge of the running belt and apply silicone-based treadmill lubricant (included in the box) along the deck underneath, working it side to side rather than in one thick line. Repeat along the opposite edge. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants, which can degrade the belt material over time.

Step 5: Work the lubricant in

Plug the unit back in and run it at a low speed (2–3 km/h) for 2–3 minutes without walking on it, allowing the lubricant to spread evenly under the belt.

Step 6: Set a reminder

Every 2–3 months for regular daily use, or every 4–6 months for lighter occasional use, repeat the process. A noisier or "grippier" feeling belt is usually the first sign lubrication is due earlier than your schedule suggests.

Warning signs to act on sooner

  • A burning smell during use — stop immediately and unplug
  • Visible belt slippage or a slapping sound at consistent speed
  • The belt tracking noticeably to one side despite lubrication

Any of these are worth addressing before continuing regular use, and may indicate an issue to raise under warranty if the unit is still within its first year.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I lubricate a walking pad belt? Every 2–3 months for daily use, or every 4–6 months for occasional use. A grippier or noisier belt is a sign it's due sooner.

What kind of lubricant should I use? Silicone-based treadmill lubricant, like the type included in the box. Avoid petroleum-based products, which can damage the belt over time.

Does skipping maintenance void the warranty? The 1-year warranty covers manufacturing defects, not wear from lack of maintenance — regular lubrication is the buyer's responsibility and helps avoid preventable belt and motor wear. See our full warranty and returns terms.
